TRAI has taken more stringent steps towards removing the problem of call drop. After changing the standard for this, the definition of call drop has also been changed. Now mobile operators will have to provide facilities to millions of mobile users of the country in accordance with new parameters from October 1, 2018 otherwise they may have to pay heavy penalties. There was a lot of controversy over the call drop in the past and politics was also sharp on this issue, after which it was initiated by the government towards correcting it.

Determining the definition of call drop, TRAI has said that not only the call disconnection during talking on phone will be considered as a call drop rather, if the:

- voice cannot be heard during the talk; or

- the stuck-in voice; or

- the network becomes weak during talking.

All these situations will also be called as call drop.

Sometimes the companies make it as network issue and escape from call drop issue. Now it will not happen. Any kind of problem that has come while talking has been put in the call drop category. Its definition has been changed for the first time since 2010. Simultaneously, the TRAI is also preparing separate systems to monitor call drop. Users will be able to make real time complaints about this.
