India Post, which works under the Department of Post (DOP), has introduced Internet Banking Services. India Post has started internet banking service for its Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) customers. India Post has given information on its official Twitter handle. It is worth mentioning that during the course of a program at the National Media Center of the National Capital, Union Communications Minister  Minister (Independent Charge) Manoj Sinha launched this facility.

Benefits:

  1. Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) customers can take advantage of India Post's internet banking facility through https://ebanking.indiapost.gov.in
  2. Customers will be able to transfer funds from one post office savings bank account to another POSB account.
  3. Users will be able to deposit Recurring Deposits (RD) accounts and Post Office Provident Fund (PPF) accounts online through Savings Bank Account.
  4. Post Office Savings Bank Account Holder will be able to open and close the transaction, RD Account and Term Deposit (FD) through the internet banking facility.
  5. According to the official website of India Post, www.indiapost.gov.in, in order to take advantage of the Internet Banking services of India Post, it is necessary to have valid Single or Joint Saving Account.
  6. It is also required to have necessary KYC document, Active DOP ATM / Debit Card, Valid Unique Mobile Number, Email Address and PAN (Permanent Account Number).

Steps to register:

  1. Contact your nearest branch and fill out pre-printed application form.
  2. Submit this form with necessary documents.
  3. Once the request is successfully processed, a SMS alert will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  4. Now you can open the India Post's Internet Banking page through the URL generated in SMS. You can click on this page for https://ebanking.indiapost.gov.in. 
  5. You can use hyperlinks to "New User Activation".
  6. After that you will have to fill the required details and configure the internet banking facility.
