Paswan said that the interest of consumers is the highest priority of the government. In this case companies should work in this direction in collaboration with their ministry. In a program organized by FICCI, he said, "Many languages are spoken in India. We can not encourage Hindi alone. Industry should move towards the use of Hindi and local languages widely spoken in the area at the time of labeling the product. In China, Japan and EU countries, the products are labeled in their local languages. In India, we are continuously using English for this. It seems like we do not have any language as well."

The Union minister, while giving an example, said that on a bottle of water it may be possible that all the information cannot be given in Hindi and local languages, but at least the brand name should be given in Hindi and local languages. However, the minister denied the possibility of making such a system compulsory at the government level. He said that the industry should adopt this system voluntarily. Paswan said that the notice sent by the company to the customers should also be in the local languages.
