This is the good news for people who do not have Aadhar but they want to file ITRs online. The Delhi High Court has directed to Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to provide special facilities on the e-filing website to the people who have neither the Aadhar card nor the Aadhar Enrollment Number. It is worth mentioning that the last date for filing of ITR for the last financial year 2017-18 is 31 July 2018.
Judge S. Ravindra Bhatt and AK Chawla's Bench have told the CBDT that as the deadline of Aadhar-PAN linking has been extended to March 31, 2019, there should be an opt-out option available for those filing returns on the website. The court has instructed the CBDT to make significant changes on its platform so that taxpayers have the facility of filing ITR for the financial year 2017-18.
