In the one year of GST, sanitary napkins was placed in a 12 percent tax slab, which was being criticized all over. Sanitary napkins have been exempted from the Goods and Services Tax (GST). This gave women great relief. Under the chairmanship of Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal, 28th GST Council meeting of GST Council was held at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi.

This was the first meeting of GST Council under the chairmanship of Piyush Goyal, after assuming charge of the Finance Minister.
