Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu and Nobel Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi launched a mobile application to locate missing and abandoned children. The name of the app is 'Reunite'. It has been prepared jointly by Satyarthi Nitya Bachpan Bachao Andolan and IT company Kapijmini.

Satyarthi said that missing children should not be considered mere numbers because it is a tragedy for parents whose life is derailed after losing their child. He said, "Every missing child shows the family's hopes and dreams, which they lose. Mr. Prabhu praised childhood movement and Satyarthi for working for the children and hoped that the app will help the missing children to join their parents.

About the App:

1. The app is multiuser where both parents to report missing children and any citizens can upload pictures of children, and provide detailed description like name, birth mark, address, report to the police station, search and identify missing kids.

2. The photographs will not be saved in the mobile phone’s physical memory and will be deleted automatically as soon as the user closes the app.

3. The app will connect to government databases of missing children and the facial recognition service is being used to identify missing kids, according to a statement by the commerce ministry.

4. The app is available for both Android and iOS.

5. Non-government organisation Bachpan Bachao Andolan and Capgemini has developed this app.
